A letter to you..

Sunday, March 02, 2008

Dear you, =)

Hey there! It has been awhile hasn't it? How are things back home? I hope you're doing well. =D Just wanted to say hi and catch up a little.

Me? Well, I've been here for almost 3 weeks now. It has been a time of adjustment, not just with the weather and the environment but with the people and culture here as well. Not to mention the semester just started, the 2 week overseas holiday is now over. xD Back to hard work and studying! I've been on holiday for so long I've probably forgotten how to read.

Despite being here for quite some time already, it still doesn't make it any easier. I certainly miss each and every one of you, the company you provide and the laughter you give. =) Thank you so much for taking the time to see me and hang out before I left, it meant to world to me. You guys know who you are! Thank you for the support you gave and for the little nuggets of wisdom you passed on to me to bring here. Thank you for years of good bonding mamak and car converstions and for the utter nonsense ones too! xD Guess what I'm trying to say is, thanks for being a friend. =)

I'm sorry I can't put all the photo's I have of you. I would if internet here is not charged at $9 a gig! hehe.

To dad, mom, Tina and Jud, I can't describe in words how much I miss you all! So many things, sights and sounds remind me of home. Like when Paramore plays over the radio I imagine Tina and Judson singing to it. Haha! And to think when I'm back so many things will be different by the time I come home. Tina will be in UNI!! So fast! And Judson would probably be playing in a big jazz band. hehe!

Seeing you guys above me tapping the glass while I checked in my luggage at the airport broke my heart, knowing that I'll be missing a years worth of your company. In a land for away, your close company and being able to be totally open and myself is something I truly miss.

With that I boarded the flight, MH149 to Melbourne.

Thank God for his providence! By his timing, Uncle Sasi was also in the same flight as I was in. I was able to bring a few more items, thank you Uncle Sasi! =)

I'm currently staying on campus in Monash Clayton, also known as the Halls. There are about 5 different Halls in campus. My place of accomodation for the next few months is Richardson Hall, in my 3m x 3m room. It looked like a prison cell initially. haha. With a few extra touches, like Toby (white Fender) and a few photos on the walls it's starting to feel more like home. =)

They're having a sale on posters in Uni. Got myself a huge Star Wars poster, Return of the Jedi!! hehehe. I also recently printed photos that I have stuck on the wall in my room. =) Pictures of that soon!

It's about a 15-20 minute walk to the campus, and surrounded by greenery! Actually if you're lazy you can bypass the lake and trees to cut 5 minutes off the journey there. xD Most of us take the shortcut actually, hahaha. My foot is full of blisters from walking so much.

There's even a lake behind Richardson Hall! Haha, it's a sight for sore eyes after many hours of studying in your prison cell.

Along the way, we had plenty of city trips, welcome dinners and other orientation activities. The international students staff sure know how to throw a dinner party. =D

Australians are a happening lot. They have a thousand and one reasons to throw a party to dance and drink. You do wonder where the endless party ideas come from, with events like Toga Night and Tight N' Bright. Tight and Bright in particular was downright disturbing. Imagine guys in tights with bright screaming colors, not to mention the mismatched tight top to go with the leg-hugging pants. And still they can drink and party in such an outfit. xD Thankfully I didn't go for that one. Too bad I'm not much of a party person, I'd rather sit by the lake for a chat. *grin*

I also managed to do some visiting on the weekends. =D I managed to see Uncle Wai Wah and family along with Uncle Govi and family on my first Sunday here. Ken's not around though, the monkey is enjoying himself in the UK. =D They took us out for wonderful chinese noodles in Box Hill. Thank you Uncle Govi! xD It was nice to see them all again, along with Bryan, Ian and Ethan. It almost felt like home. It's funny to see how much has changed as well. Ethan has certainly grown but he's such a gentleman! Still cute as ever! hehe. I could hardly recognize Jeremy on the other hand!! How time flies.

On my second Sunday I followed John to his parents place of Maryborough for the weekend. Oh such fun! xD Lying on the grass star-gazing in the chilly cold, panning for gold in Sovereign Hill, ordering chinese take-out and eating by the lake. Hope I can visit them again, when it's less cloudy to see the fully lit sky! =D Thanks John for allowing me to tag along!

For now, semester has resumed and in it's second week everything kicks into full gear. God willing I'll survive another semester in Electrical & Electronics Engineering. =) Stuff sound interesting so far, telecomunications protocol, Computer architecture. I only dread the math subject this semester, Optimization and Numerical Methods. The name alone is enough to cause a stroke. x(

Well, that's all I have for now. I do pray that you'll keep well and that the year ahead will be an eventful and fruitful one for you! =D Do keep in touch! It's always nice to see a "hi!" in the cbox! =) Celina says that all the photos on my wall will only make me homesick. haha. I'd like to think that they remind me of the wonderful people back home that I'm looking forward to see again once I'm done here. =D There's nothing I look forward to more!

I'll keep you posted! =D And if you have a blog, update it often!!

Do also add me on Skype if you haven't already. =D

Until we meet again. =)
