Brand new baby!

Thursday, January 31, 2008

Thank you newspeedstore! You guys are brilliant!

I sent in my camera for warranty an hour ago. Usually you'd have to send in the product my mail but I requested that I come personally to bring in the camera. To my delight they agreed and I did just that.

Upon arrival, all I needed to show was the defect and they took out a brand new unit to be exchanged with my faulty one. Brand new! And I thought they were just going to repair it.

Brand new defect-free baby!

They even included the screen protector for free!

Now I can start afresh with a new scratch-free defect-free camera! Have to be more careful this time.

Just in time for the Switchfoot concert too! xD

Light Drawings

My mom bought these sticks from a warehouse sale that flash blue, green and red very rapidly. At the price of 2 ringgit each, she couldn't resist and got two.

Xin, my mom and I were playing with them for awhile when Xin and I took them into the study room along with my camera. Below are the results of an hour in a dark room. =D

Reminded me so much of the Red Hot Chili Peppers video for "Fortune Faded". =D Fun stuff, we missed House to play with the flashing sticks. xD Xin is so good with them!

Had a quick chat with Celina earlier tonight. I'm surprised she hasn't started packing yet, she has been talking about going to Australia since the first semester in uni. =D I'm glad to have a few close friends going along with me. Even though we're in a different courses, it's comforting to know they'll be around to hang out with. =)

*stress

Ah darn darn darn..

What to pack, what to pack??

Stressness, when you suddenly realize that you're leaving the country in 12 days.

Oh, what to pack?!

I just found out that I'll get RM5000 worth of insurance claim if my luggage gets missing in the airport for more than 8 hours.

Oh please lose my bag Malaysian Airlines.. just for 8 hours.

Any tips? Be specific, such as.. "3 packets of Shokobutsu". xD

Mood Swings
Lol.. so lame!

Work in progress.

As you can see, the previous look of the Noodle Shop has vanished without a trace. Darn Blogger, I upgraded to their new template system only to wreck the format of my blog. Oh well, the Noodle Shop has looked the same since 2006. Time for a change. =D

We're renovating to serve you better!

p.s. - Managed to get a photo slideshow to work! Only shows the first page of my flickr account though. Wonder if I can change that.

Ah, I so miss flickr. Can't wait for February to come to get my next 100MB of uploads.

I sound like a flickr junkie. =P In the meantime, I'll have to use Picasa to upload.

Let the uploading begin!!

A pleasant surprise

Saturday, January 26, 2008

I was fooled into thinking it was just a small simple chinese dinner with the Klang gang. I was so caught by surprise. =D

Thank you so much to all who took time off to come for dinner, it meant the world to me. =)

To En, Michelle, Lee San, Wei Jin, Nadia, Vivien, Su Yin (extra thanks to you and your brother for the lift there!), Joshua, Ko Kwang (not sure if I got it right), Boon Hoy, Joseph, James, Wei Hong (chestnuts), Richard, Datin Ee May and Justin (Chai). Thank you guys so much. You have no idea how much it made my day.

And thanks dear for planning it all. =D *hugs!*

It's HIM! It's HIM!!Mafia is such an emotionally tiring game, I'm so bad at it. Haha! Having to pull a straight face when they ask me if I'm the mafia is too difficult for me. At least I lasted longer as a mafia this time round. Darn Nadia and Xin kept accusing me! Well, Xin can probably read me like a book, she kept saying it's so obvious. I managed to fool James, Joshua and Mich though! =D

Thanks for being there guys. =) I have no words to describe how blessed I feel.

Thanks James for the Tungsten setting tip! =D

evil Flickr!

Saturday, January 19, 2008

Argh, Flickr is so terrible. They first lavish with a gorgeous site to upload pictures and a beautiful easy-to-use interface to lure you into it. Then when you're hooked, they let you know that you've used up your monthly 100MB upload limit. When you try to organize your photos already in Flickr, they tell you that you can only make 3 sets with the free account.

(TT_TT)

oh cruel Flickr!

I just realized that both Bernard and PG have the "pro" logo beside their usernames, meaning that they're proud owners of a Flickr Pro account.

Silly me to think it was free.

Two years fee for a pro account is USD$47.99, when converted it would be about RM157.00. Divided by the 24 months, it would cost roughly RM6.50 a month. That doesn't sound too bad actually.

With my 100MB monthly upload limit reached I have to resort back to Blogger's image storage for the meantime.

John and Jane just left us to permanently reside in Australia. They're both wonderful people and will be badly missed by all of us. Take care you two! =D

I didn't feel so bad when they left, I'll be seeing them again in three weeks anyway.

...

Crap.. 3 weeks! Where on earth did January go?!

Everything's set for me to go, passport, tickets, visa, a place to stay. All I need now is to pack and place my backside in the plane. Sigh..

I must say I'm pretty stressed up, just thinking about it worries me to death.

On your head!

Friday, January 18, 2008

My mom was decorating the place under our staircase as she always does for special occasions such as Christmas. With Chinese New Year coming around the corner, she whipped up a few things make the place look pretty.

While she was trying to find the best place to hang her little red lanterns she asked me, "Where should I hang this?".

Tina would say, "On your head!"

Hehe..

I miss you Tina. =) See you soon!

Yum yum..

Think I'll start placing pics through flickr from now on. It's slightly more convenient. I won't have to upload the picture into Blogger.

The sizes are a problem though, Medium is too big and Small is too small. The only solution I see is editing the HTML for the picture size when I post it, quite a hassle. Wonder if there are any other alternatives.

I love how you can see more details about the picture with flickr. Helps you learn from the pros who take much nicer photos. ISO speed of 800 and still so noise-free?! Ah.. The joys of a DSLR. Photography is so expensive. Lucky Ii Shan for getting a free one as a gift from his nice uncle. =D

hmmm?
hmmm?

roar!
roar!~

It was Jane's and John's farewell yesterday. I took a few pics, I'll upload them when I can.

Hard to imagine that I'm going off as well. Not permanently moving there like John and Jane, but the thought scares me nonetheless. What's it like to leave everything familiar and close to you behind? My stomach turns just thinking about it.

Sigh.. Less than a month to go.

Must make the most out of it. =)

Panorama

Outside Well Cooked Gourmet. Trying out the panorama feature. The silver Honda's my Betsy! xD

I was really impressed by the Panorama Image Stitching program Canon provided. Just take a few pictures in succession and the software sews it together for you to create a panorama. How far digital camera technology has come!

I find it funny that the lady in Well Cooked Gourmet remembers me. Finally, a restaurant that I can call for "biasa" and get what I want! =p

It's here!

I can't believe it!

I wanted to believe that it would arrive today, but I didn't want to disappoint myself. "They can't be that efficient." I thought, so I decided to forget about it.

Just then, I heard the horn of a vehicle coming from outside my house.

"Could it be??"

I unconsciously ran down the stairs with haste. I held my breath, preparing for disappointment. It's probably just a friend of my mom or the paperman collecting his monthly fee or something.

IT WAS THE POS LAJU!!!

xD

My baby!

No longer will The Noodle Shop use bad blur handphone photos! Say hello to 7.1 Megapixel goodness!

I tailed John, Jane and Crissy to Parade to look for a pouch to keep it in. Decided on a nice (brown, =p) Golla pouch. A bit on the pricey side but I think it's worth it for it's quality and protection it offers.

Now to look for rechargeable batteries. I'll have to wait till my next allowance comes in, I so can't afford it now.

Too lazy to post my first few pictures here. I started a flickr account to dump them in. Feel free to take a look. =D

I absolutely love the macro shots it takes. Not to mention the Aperture priority mode is fun as well! Hope to master the full manual mode with practice and time. All in all, it's a wonderful camera with great features for the price I paid.

Leap of faith

Sunday, January 06, 2008

I've bought it.

Well actually, more like I've paid for it.

RM580, for the Canon PowerShot A570 IS, a 1GB SD card and the screen protector.

I made payment on Friday night. I'm so happy to find out that the store promptly replied my e-mail the very next day. =D I feel like a 5 year-old waiting for Christmas.

I was initially worried about purchasing the grey market product, (It's perfectly legal in case you were about to call the police.) since it doesn't come with the warranty. But Rudi endorsed it, since the savings made can be massive (50 percent in my case) and that these cameras rarely go wrong.

Hehe.. can't wait can't wait. Hopefully it arrives by Tuesday.

We also just got back from our Camerons trip. Glad to see all of them doing well. =D

It was quite a surprise to see Simon as RBS president. Lol. He does ooze with responsibility and confidence. I'm not at all surprised that Kee Ken is a Team Leader. Haha! All the best to all of you in your mission teams! That includes you too Tina, Ei Leen and Jeremy!

While we were up there, Rudi asked Tina if she missed her brothers or not. Seeing her nod was the best thing I saw all week. =) We miss you so much Tina!

It was such fun being on holiday with the RBS gang. They're truly people you can fully open up with, a really wonderful bunch. =D I never knew Mafia was such an emotionally taxing game. Trying to prove your innocence when everyone is accusing you is so tiring. I make such a bad mafia, they always figure me out.

I'm gonna miss them lots. Not just my RBS mates, my family, my church mates, the Pondok Gang. I'll miss you all.

A picture I took with James' camera. I love your camera la Boon.

His cam can do this effect. So cool. haha, thanks for uploading the pics Boon!

RBS nostalgia

She called! =D

Tina called just the other day. For some reason I almost didn't recognize her voice. She sounded so cheerful and happy. Well, that's what RBS does to you I suppose. =)

I'll be going up with my RBS year to Camerons this weekend. I have plenty of stuff to pass to Tina and Ei Leen. Must remember to buy donuts before I go up.

Ah, I can't wait to dig in the food. Banana Pancakes, Excellence , German. hehe..

What I can't wait for even more is to see my sis and my cousin up there. =D
