KEE KENNNNNNNNN!! xD

Mr Fong: If you haven't gotten your hands on Portrait of Ruin, go play that first! It's different from Dawn of Sorrows but just as fun! =D Hehehehe. Can't wait for this installment of Castlevania. xD

It's scary to see my countdown to exams timer drop from 20 days to only 9. Now with everything out of the way, (assignments and tests) I can finally prepare normally for the coming finals! Wohhh!!

Managed to catch another few movies the past few weeks. Namely, P.S. I Love You. and the latest adventure of Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones Jr. =D

We somehow managed to persuade the gang to watch this movie at midnight despite everyones busy exam preparation schedules. xD Got the movie from the student network, burned it into a DVD and watched it in the comfort of the Richo Projector Room. =D It's like a little private cinema!

Some of you might recognize the leading guy in the movie poster, Gerard Butler. The men would recognize him as King Leonidas from 300. The women on the other hand might recognize him as the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera. To quote my friend.. It was a waste to have such a handsome face hidden behind a mask throughout the entire movie. xD

I must say I enjoyed the movie tremendously, partially because I didn't expect it to be so good. I was taken by surprise on how entertaining it turned out to be! There were moments I nearly burst into tears (and possibly drench my poor friends sitting beside me), but men can't cry in a projector room with 10 of his mates can he? ;D lol lol..

Of course, matters like movies are entirely subjective. There are a few "what on earth?!" scenes, but generally all of us liked the show.

As much as I want to talk more about it, I won't want to spoil the experience for those who haven't watched it. =D Grab some buddies, crash a house and watch this! xD

Henry "Indiana" Jones is at it again saving the world from the Nazi's! For a movie 14 years in the making, I certainly had my fair share of expectations. =D However, it's not exactly a movie I'd recommend to everyone. Half the people I roped to the cinema were left with blank expressionless faces after the movie ended. Hahahaha.

I don't exactly blame them. I thought it was fun as a Indiana Jones movie. You're not supposed to think so much but just sit back and enjoy the exaggerated, over the top action sequences. xD The movie might not be everyones cup of tea, but who knows you just might love this adventure. =D

Do your homework first and watch the first 3 movies! I only manged to revise the first movie. hahaha! I heard the 3rd one is the best. Another movie night I suppose? hehehe.

Okay, I supposed I've done exceptionally well in avoiding my lecture notes. =p Not to mention we're watching yet another midnight movie at the study room tonight. It sounds like it's becoming a regular thing. hehehehe. Back to work I go then! Have a great week! =D

Post Mortem

I replaced the Pac-Man Game at the sidebar of my blog with a much simpler game. Start a high score war if you want. I got 175. Lol. I think the best score would be 250. =D I'll set up a leaderboard. hehehehe.

It's been an awfully miserable few days. Week 12 in Monash usually means crunch-time, all the final assignments are due this week. And my what a week it was.. Just had a test yesterday as well. Worked hard for it, I think I'll do alright.

Open Mic night was awfully fun, despite the stress prior the event, after the event and the big boo boo I did during the event. =P I slept at 5am for the past 3 nights before Open Mic doing a programming assignment that wasn't going my way. What made it worse was that the assignment was due on Monday (the next day after Open Mic!) and I wasn't done with it. Not to mention it carried quite a huge amount of marks. It's not that I did it last minute, I was working on it for all week but it just wasn't working.

But heck, we still went ahead and played for Open Mic. We've practiced too much to just abandon the whole act altogether. Thanks to my lack of sleep I totally blundered up and played nonsense for a good 5 seconds. xD Ahahahahahahaha... It felt like an eternity while it was happening. Fortunately Sing Ping being the pro she is just did her thing, superb damage control that girl. =D

She said I looked pale during the performance. Must have been the programming. Ahahahahaha..

It may not have gone as I have dreamed, but still I had a blast. =D The other acts were great too! There was a guy singing and dancing to Frank Sinatra. That so made my day. xD

Here Crissy, I've mustered the courage to show this to the world.

Edit: The vid is not working for some reason.. I'll try other methods to post it up.

Edit Edit: Up and running. On YouTube, shudder... enjoy!

Hahahaha, I used to love this show back in primary school. Would always laugh my socks off! Where do they get such ingenious games? I want to try!! Lol...

Excitedness.. xD

It's here!

It's SUNDAY!

Open Mic Night!
So excited! Hehehehehe.

But stress also! Hahaha.

Hopefully it turns out well!!

Everyone back home is away for Church Camp, totally forgot about it. How I wish I was home! =)

Got a message from someone in camp. Absolutely made my day. =D

I slept at 5.30am yesterday, doing what you ask?

Not assignments unfortunately. I gave up at 2am. Whei Jin came in the computer room to get his beloved (guitar). Before he went out, he decided to play a tune.

That one tune became two, and two tunes became four.

Before you know it, we were singing soulfully and playing emo songs till 5 in the morning. 3 whole hours!! Hahahahahaha. xD The internet is so wonderful.

What to do.. We miss our girlfriends back home. =) Sing emo songs and cry till there's no tears left!! lol.

Congrats on your new job dear!! =D Working already somebody!! My girl is earning MOOLAH now!! Ahahahahahahaha.. and I still have 1 and a half years to study, so sad. All the best in your future endeavours in the working world! =) Seek Him first in all things! I'm so happy for you! =D

Justina Lee Su Yen, you're hilarious ah. xD You never fail to make me burst out laughing. Truly one of a kind. =) (Note: Not "one-kind", that's different. =P) Hahahahahaha, how I miss you! Can't wait for my daily dosage of laughs when I get back. =D

Judson Lee Ju Hoe, how's your new "toy"? hahahahaha, so talented ah you. Drums, Piano, Guitar, Recorder, Sax. I'm living under your shadow! hahahahaha. xD I miss our jamming sessions! Hopefully when I'm back I'll be a little bit better and can keep up to your standard. =P I miss a DS/Wii kaki too! No-one can compare to your kiasu-ness in Meteos!! xD

Better return to my programming!

A tribute to Ol' Blue Eyes. =)

Francis Albert "Frank" Sinatra
(December 12, 1915 – May 14, 1998)

Tomorrow marks the 10th year anniversary of his passing. You're sorely missed Mr. Sinatra. =)

I'll forever remember the journey to SS15 with Simon, Christina and others in my car. We were singing "My Way" at the top of our lungs. Hahaha! xD What fun that was.

Google Gadgets are so fun to implement into the blog. As you can see I've implemented a countdown timer to scare myself every time I feel like posting something to burn time. xD

MRS Ball!

Monday, May 12, 2008

72 photos from the ball. What fun it was. The live band was so good! Their selection was the bomb, mostly 90's stuff. And their medley of Billie Jean (fast, not the slow kind) to Smooth Criminal was impressive. =D They should have continued with Beat it. xD

We just found out that the Open Mic Night will be combined with another Hall, Howitt. WHYYYYYYYY?!?! Pressure pressure.. and we only had one practice. (-_-) stress... lol.

Movie Junkie!

Tuesday, May 06, 2008

Oh how I miss and appreciate the cinemas back home. Here, the student price tickets are priced at 10 dollars (RM30 ringgit), compared to the mere 6-7 ringgit in Pyramid. Furthermore the only popcorn they have here is the salty kind, maybe I'll make a killing here by introducing sweet caramel popcorn to the market here..

Still, these reasons don't stop the avid cinema lover I am. =D Below are a few of the movies I managed to catch recently.

An interesting tale loosely based on King Henry VIII and his relationship with Anne and Mary Boleyn. Most of the guys only came for 2 reasons, Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson.. Haha! I must admit the former was certainly a driving force as well for me. xD The girls on the other hand had the handsome Eric Bana to keep them company. =D

While a tad bit slow sometimes, I thought it was good how they portrayed the once close relationship of the siblings gradually changing to a very bitter ordeal. There were times where the audience had a good laugh at times where I'm sure we were not supposed to. xD

When I went for this movie I had a vision of what I aspire to be. Sitting beside us were these 2 old ladies, probably in their 70's or 80's. They looked like close friends, happily chatting away before the movie began and discussing about it when the movie ended. Behind them, an elderly man around the same age as they were. I pray when I'm their age I'll still be able to eat KFC and Pizza Hut (just like Xin's Grandma, she's my hero) and watch Batman 8 or Rocky XXIV in the cinemas. xD

A bittersweet love story set in 1925. The sarcastic humor and the lines for the movie were awesome. xD Jokes aside I'm sure this movie will tug a few heartstrings as well. Catch it if you can!

And the latest one..

I watched this with a bunch of mostly engineers. You have no idea how we salivated all over the designing of the armored suit. xD We just hope the movie didn't inspire our Engineering Design lecturers lest they make us design a fully operational Mark III suit next semester.

So can't wait for these babies to be released! xD

What's not to love about the Dark Knight? From the latest trailer in the official site it looks OH-SEM!! xD

Who can forget the signature theme song of the world's greatest archeologist? =D Mr. Ford looks super old in the movie! Reminds me of Die Hard 4. Ahahahahaha.. Does he still have what it takes to save the day?

I remember watching the cartoons when I was a kid. Love the ultra-colourful concept of the movie, it truly captures the world in the imagination of a child. =D From the Wachowski brothers too!

Hahahaha. I'm a sucker for Will Smith movies. Thanks Ammar for letting me know about this. xD

The only reason this is here is because of Morgan Freeman. Not Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman. xD It looks like a trashy generic action movie, all thrills no plot, but who knows? Shouldn't judge a movie by its trailer. =)

PC Trauma.

Saturday, May 03, 2008

I think this deserves to be written down, recorded and filed. So that I remember God's goodness to me.

It was an evening innocent enough, we just got back from watching Iron Man and everyone was chilling in their respective rooms. That was when Li Heng messaged me saying that he had trouble installing Half-Life and called me up to his room.

So I went, turns out that he didn't have the proper software to mount the disk image. I recommended him to download and install Alcohol 120% to do the trick. While he was installing it, I excused myself and went back to my room.

About a minute or two later, he knocked on my door saying his PC crashed after installing Alcohol and just gave the blue screen of death.

"oh dear... " was the first thought that came to my mind.

We both went back to his room and he attempted to restart his PC. Windows started fine, but when he tries to log in the PC crashes, shows the blue screen, and proceeds to restart.

We made several attempts to gain access to his PC, tried starting in safe mode, normal mode and every other option available to us, but every time we tried Windows would just crash and start over..

"ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!"

My mind was already ridden in panic. If it was my PC it would have been bad, but it's LI HENG'S PC, making it worse! I was sorta kinda directly involved because if I didn't ask him to install the software it wouldn't have happened. What about his files?! His work and assignments?! His collection of self-made guitar pro 5 tabs?? His ridiculous collection of wushu stunts he did with his buddies?!

We rang up the local PC guy in the halls and asked for his advice. He said the way to go was to reformat the whole thing, since we can't access windows to do anything in the first place. Kinda hard to do a system restore when you can't access Windows to begin with.

At soon as we heard that our hearts just sank into our stomach. Li Heng will lose all this stuff and I'm mostly to blame. I just prayed over and over in my head. It felt weird for awhile, usually you pray for healing of people. It's probably the first time I prayed that a laptop be healed.

While he was looking for his Windows installer CD's, I just kept praying and fiddled around with the computer. Just as Li Heng came back to his PC, Windows gave us a different option, one we haven't seen before. Following the instructions, it said that Windows will attempt to repair damaged parts and stuff like that.

*click*click*click* YES YES YES!

After a few minutes wait, it completed it's "repair" and restarted itself. Both our eyes were glued at the screen, hoping for the best. I was still praying in my head and out loud sometimes, Li would give a short laugh every time I did.

When Windows did load properly, we were rejoicing but were still doubtful. After a few clicks here and there, it seemed that all was okay and working as it should. With a heavy sigh of relief I said "Thank God!.."

Again, he gave a chuckle and replied "Yeah.. Thank God. haha!"

The whole ordeal probably only lasted 20 minutes at most but it felt like we were there all night. I returned to my room, emotionally drained from the trauma. hahahaha.. I proceeded to Jun Wei's room to let it all out. xD

Thank God for His goodness!! =D

We recently got the Winter Camp promo flier up! Will post it sometime soon! I'm so excited for it! We expect great things from Him! xD
