RM 160?!

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

Acer Customer Service just called in. It'll cost me 160 bucks to replace the Cooling fan and the heatsink. Gah..

I forgot to ask what the problem was though.. It slipped my mind. Guess I'll find out when I collect it from repairs.

I have a really important document inside my laptop that needs to be handed in next week. The lady on the phone told me it'll take a week to repair it. I told her about it and she said she'll try to put it on priority. Hope she does..

Flash game review time!! =D

-Red- is a fun simple game that uses simple physics and momentum. The controls are straightforward and self-explanatory, you take control of a single stationary turret and you have to defend yourself from various sized balls falling from the sky. Your shots don't "destroy" the balls but rather deflect them away.

Just a warning, it's pretty addictive.

My personal best so far is 519 seconds. I'm sure you guys can do better. =)

Go on.. Click it! =D

Oh cruel fate...

Tuesday, October 03, 2006

There was a horrid LOUD buzzing sound coming from my laptop fan when I came back from college today. I had no choice but to send it for repairs. Unfortunately for me my warranty was well over, it's gonna cost an arm and a some toes to get it fixed.. Not to mention a few days.

They say they'll be done with it in 3 working days. Bah.. I have a hunch that they'll take a week, more if i'm lucky. I've heard horror stories about Acer's customer service. *shudder*

Sigh.. just when I finished downloading my Prison Break last night. =(

I left it under my bed on the computer bag like I always do to finish some downloads. My maid came in my room in morning and closed the cover of the bag, resulting in my laptop overheating. I'm guessing the fan is melted out of shape or something.

It's gonna be a late night in front of the computer in my parents room. Rats! I knew I should have finished my electrical report last night.

Get well soon "Lo Poh"...

It is finished!!

Finally!! 4.4 gigabytes of "Whose line is it anyway?" is finally completed!!

Buahaahhahahahahhaha...

Call me to your house one day and I'll transfer it all to you. =)

Chair Red Bear Red

Question 1: What's worse than sitting for an Engineering Structures paper which you're not exactly prepared for first thing in the morning?

Answer : Sitting for an Enginnering Structures paper which you're not prepared for with a killer diarrhea first thing in the morning..

I was sweating my butt off fighting off the pains while trying to do the test paper. haha.. Hope it goes away soon.. =S

Chair Red Bear Red... Lol.. You're fantastic la Gabriel..

This part of the post is dedicated to Miss Daphne Lee... again!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This.. is Daphne Blue. =D

Haha, I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the fender catalog. A shade of blue dedicated to Daphne, the biggest blue fan on the face of the planet.

And this is for Mr Simon Sim..

Happy Birthday punk!!~ =D May your guitar skillz bloom like crazy and may you continue to grow in the Lord!! =D

You're so gullible la.. I wish everyone was as easy to surprize. Lol!! =D

Exposure

Wednesday, September 27, 2006

I knew I shouldn't have listened to you Jon. =p

Kaki King

Michael Hedges

Don Ross

Listen to Don Ross first!! Haha.. I must say that he's my favourite among the 3 of them. Such skill.. It's videos like this that make you wish you learned fingerstyle. Come to think of it, I've never seen anyone play fingerstyle live locally. I hear lessons for fingerstyle guitar cost more than normal guitar lessons. Much harder to learn too...

Kaki King looks so much better and edgy without her glasses. Haha!! She's fantastic man..

Darn.. I'm out of saliva.. again.

I should have listened to the voice at the back of my head telling me not to listen to Jon.. =D

3 easy steps to feeling horridly untalented

Tuesday, September 26, 2006

Step 1: Search "whose line is it anyway?" in Google and go to the first link you get.

Step 2: Click on the "Whose who?" Tab and scroll down to the last photograph, guitarist Linda Taylor.

Step 3: Click on "Musical Riff" under the photograph and the feeling of being horridly untalented should sink in pretty soon.

Lol... I'd sell my toes off to play half as well as she does. See!! Hannah!! Jane!! Shanice!! Girl guitarists can blow peoples minds away too!! =D

Comeback

Good day ladies and gentlemen..

Its been awhile hasn't it? =)

Forgive the long silence in The Noodle Shop. When assignments and exams come I barely have time to check my mail, what more blog. The good news is that I'm on a study break for a week. 1 week to catch up with all my subjects and to prepare myself for my 2nd sem finals. Not to mention catch up with some sleep..

I'm updating from the computer kiosk in uni.. Currently transfering some files but it's talking forever because it's on USB 1.0. What better time to make a comeback eh? =)

Ooo.. The files are almost done.. Look forward to a truckload of Flash games reviews in the next post!! =D

Evils of BitComet

Saturday, September 09, 2006

My friend has thought me the dark arts of BitComet. So now I can download my beloved Prison Break episodes by myself!~ Buahahahahaha! Haha, season 2 here I come!! =D

I've also downloaded and watched X-men 3! The way everyone was talking about it was as if every other character died in the movie. Haha, as far as I remember only 3 people died, right? It was not bad, I had expectations for the movie and they were well met. =)

I'm still annoyed that the Tokyo Drift movie I downloaded was only half the movie. Gah..

My current download project now is "Whos Line is it Anyway?". Haha! The entire season 7 of the show is a whooping 4 gigs! Had to uninstall Oblivion from my PC just to make sure I could fit the files in my hard drive when they arrive. My already limited disk space is going to suffer more with all these downloads. =D

Beef or Chicken?!

The question remains!!

All roads lead to Kajang...

Tuesday, August 15, 2006

Mr Simon Sim, I so want to borrow The Afters. Please give it back to church right away. =p

A picture's worth a thousand words. Lets start this post with four thousand words.. =D

Dear Daphne, Xin is editing photo with photoshop as we speak. =D hehe..

X!!

My cousin Chi Mei invited us (Kee Ken, Chui Yeng, Tina, Judson, Xin and I) to the "We will rock you" musical at Cempaka Private School (Cheras) on Friday. Unfortunately for us, we never made it to Cempaka.. Despite having a map, we got hopelessly lost along the way and drove aimlessly for a good 2 hours. We even reached all the way to Putrajaya!! Lol.. Sesatt..

Kee Ken drew up the map to the place because his printer is not working. Upon coming home I checked the schools website and saw the map for myself. It was somewhat funny..

It seems that we didn't even arrive to the point where the map starts. *sweatt..* (see figure 1)

(Figure 1)

Lol... Guess it was because the drawn map didn't have the landmarks. Haha.. What to do. =) But not all was lost!!

Fortunately, Tina had a back-up plan. She suggested we go watch One in a Million live in Syah Alam. So we then turned back towards Syah Alam to watch One In A Million at Sri Pentas 2. Luckily for us we only missed 1 performance. =D And we got in just in time to watch Faizal's rendition of L.O.V.E.!! =D

I was totally blown away by his version of the song. Who knew that song could be sung by a guy?! Haha!! What a show!!

Not everybody liked it though. I know Leonard and Crissy didn't.. *glare..* =p

The journey to Syah Alam from Putrajaya was hilarious. No matter which direction we went, the road signs all say Kajang is in front of us. (O_o) Haha..

To end the day, we went to pig out for supper at McDonalds!!

(see pictures above)

So much fries!! Haha!! =D

What a day is was. My foot was sore from driving..

Bless the inventor of automatic transmission..

1.2 Terrabyte hard drive??!

Monday, August 14, 2006

Firefox has been crashing too often already. I just reinstalled the latest version. Hopefully it doesn't happen anymore, especially not while i'm blogging. Haih..

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

On the brighter side, Sean passed me his cassette adapter since he doesn't use it anymore!! =D I've been looking for this for ages.. What a bliss to enjoy 1Gb of music in the car, compared to listening to the same CD over and over again. haha! Goodbye forever CD's!!

Rudi's crazy man.. a 1.2 terrabyte hard disk.. terrabytes.. crazy..

They play Queen at KFC

Friday, August 11, 2006

Haha, they played Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody at the KFC in Jusco, Klang. Of all songs..

Hilarious..

Cosmic Funk Express!! We love you!!

Tuesday, August 08, 2006

Three words...

COSMIC FUNK EXPRESS!!

What a blast the Jazz Fest has been..

A few of us went over to Crissy's place last night for a surprise birthday for Hannah. Happy Birthday Hannah Banana!! =D I'm quite she was surprised.. We being the professional nonsense people we are.. =p

The look on her face was priceless..

"Oh my gosh....." Haha!~

I'll update with photo's once I get my hands on some.

We then devoured the fabulous dinner that was prepared by Crissy and Auntie Lee Ching. Oh glorious lasagna, beef pasta, giant sausages and Otai burgers.. lol.

But the fun was just beginning..

After eating our hearts out, chatting, opening presents and laughing like lunatics we proceeded to Mont' Kiara for the SUNRISE JAZZ AND RHYTHM FESTIVAL!!

(insert picture of Jazz festival here)

Haha, be patient. Pictures will come.

As always the fest was amazing, packed and crowded. It's amazing how many people you bump into at the jazz fest. You feel so happening and cultured. Haha..

Then there was them..

(insert another picture of Jazz festival here)

COSMIC FUNK EXPRESS!!

Such fantastic musicians. The guitarist Zach just blew me away with his jaw-dropping display of speed, emotion and skill. I couldn't help but laugh aloud when they played the medley of Fantasy Impromptu and the Super Mario theme song. Haha, what a show. I could have stayed there all night.. =)

Good musicians do two things. They amaze us and make us drool buckets in awe, and they also have an uncanny ability to make us feel dreadfully untalented wishing never to play our beloved instruments ever again. =D Haha.. (ref: Simon Sim)

But ultimately those two things should inspire us to practice more, develop and polish our talents and skills that God has blessed us with. These guys show you where you stand in your music and lead you towards the path of playing better, and hopefully making other people drool buckets with your mad music skillz in the near future. =D More importantly, using them for His glory..

I definitely know I need so much work. With the many talents I see every other day like Jon, Raymond and Daryl, I don't need superb fantastic demi-god guitarists like Zach to show me where I stand. There's so much room to grow.

It's a tough road, but I'm enjoying every minute of it. =)

I'm sure Simon was definitely inspired. We was doing research on jazz guitar and experimenting with new drum stuff the very next day. lol..

Why?! OH WHY???

I was halfway typing a pretty long post when suddenly..

POOF!~

Firefox suddenly crashes, taking my long update together with it..

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

The many trials us bloggers face..

Back to the drawing board..

Neon!!

Tuesday, August 01, 2006

It's been awhile. There's so much to do for uni.. Sigh.. No major updates, just another game recommendation to entertain the people. =)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Game of the day : Neon

I've always loved the classic Asteroids. This is how I've always dreamed Asteroids to be. Since the mouse is used to control your ship, Neon has a much faster pace compared to the traditional asteroids. It gets rather frantic at the later levels though with a dozen opponents swarming around you. I didn't like the fact that the power-ups didn't last very long. There is a good variety of opponents though, which is good. I hate those blue round ones which deflect your laser beams right back at you when their shields are on. Haha..

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Hot Rocks on the other hand plays and feels more like old school asteroids. The nice addition to Hot Rocks is the arsenal of power-ups that you can get by docking to the space station. The shields in Hot Rocks reminded me of the random teleport button in the GameBoy version of Asteroids. Haha, it was always fun to escape death with the teleport. If you're lucky that is. Haha! =D

Gah, I saw the music video of Ronan Keating singing 'Iris'. Haha, so weird.

Iris shall always remind me of Simon, without fail everytime I listen to it. Lol...

Oily Soup..

Thursday, July 27, 2006

This guy is a genius..

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I'm not sure about you but as a kid I used to play with the layer of oil on my soup, combining smaller circles together into bigger circles of oil. Now with technology we don't need a bowl of soup anymore to experience the pointless fun we had back in the good old days..

Go on, go play with some soup.

Do-fi Blog also offers many other simple yet very entertaining games and toys to play with in Java. SAND SAND SAND is one of those toys to play around with. It's difficult to explain what SAND SAND SAND is like. Try it yourself, you'll either hate it or love it.

Another worth trying is WAR OF THE HELL where you try to pull (or fling) people to heaven with your magical string. Think it's based on a chinese folk tale.

Back 2 skool blues..

Saturday, July 22, 2006

What a week it has been. How I miss sleeping in late and bumming.. Haha. Guess I'm still getting used to university life all over again. The first week is still not too bad since tutorial and lab classes don't begin until the 2nd week. Gah.. The worst is yet to come.

I'm not very happy with my results last semester. I know I could have done slightly better. Therefore I'm working much harder this semester. University fees are not cheap..

I was wondering the other day how working life will be like, earning for a family and sustaining them. I can't imagine myself in that position at all, it's only a matter of time. I can't even imagine being half as successful as my dad is. The mere thought of it scares me. Haha, even my mom asked me why I was thinking of such things at my age. Too much free time for my mind to wander between classes I guess..

Then my mom ended the conversation with this; "It doesn't matter how well you do in the future, just do your best. The important thing is that your relationship with God is right and everything else will fall into place."..

Matthew 6:33 - But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Such a simple yet wonderful promise!!

Thanks mom.. =)

It's been an eventful Saturday. The morning started with Tina following Christina for some audition at a studio in SS18. Ken came along to support and to carry Tina's water bottle. Haha.. We did 2 acoustic songs from Michelle Branch. I doubt we'll be called back, haha! Adam (from malaysian band DragonRed) was just being nice to us in my opinion. Oh well.. we had fun. =) It was more for the experience..

Next was the trip to the Doulos!! Sadly I didn't find any books I liked. I wanted to get this super cheap devotional guide that Xin bought from the Doulos earlier but I guess it was sold out. Bah.. Too bad I missed the music section too. Heard there was a good guitar book. Sigh...

Jon on the other hand found jems among the mass of CD's on the Doulos. He got 2 great CD's for 8 bucks each!! What a steal.. Jon.. I want to rip. =p

Then came this..

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Haha, the college group outing today was a steamboat dinner. I'm still bloated from the noodles and all the fish balls. Haha!! Since we wanted to aviod the wastage fine we had to eat the mountains of food that we took. It was so painful having nonsense people like Kat Tan and Racheal making you laugh on a full stomach.. Crazy.. I'm so traumatized. Haha!! =D I won't eat steamboat in a very very long time..

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

To close this post.. Don't you think Lucas looks like a certain rock star?

Lol... It's a beautiful dayyyyy....

Warbears!!

Sunday, July 16, 2006

Another game recommendation.

Game of the day: Warbears!!
Probably the one of the cutest puzzle Flash games I've seen in awhile. The graphics style is awesome too. Certainly a memorable game. Give it a go!
