The Great Escapade!

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

I've always been an big fan of traveling, probably evident by the amount of petrol I burn each week driving around with my old silver Honda around. I've always enjoyed going to a place that's unfamiliar to me, taking in new sights and absorbing the different culture of a new place.

I must have got it from my dad, a man who shares the same passion for the hobby. He has seen so much of the world I probably can't name you half the places he has been if I tried! How I envy the many gorgeous cites he has been to, New York, London..

Being blessed in his career, I've also been fortunate enough to see a lot of the world with my own eyes when he takes my family on holidays. Being a 4th year engineering student about to embark into the working world soon, I always hope that I'd be able to do as well as he did financially and take my future kids on trips like he did.

One of my ultimate dream travel locations would be to see with my own eyes the lost city of Machu Picchu in South America, to look out into the now deserted ruins which lay in the Peruvian Andes. However, being a mere student I don't quite have the financial capabilities to fund my trip there yet! That dream is put on hold for now, but that doesn't stop me from persuing my other dream holiday destinations!

Deep in Cambodia, lies the ruins of the once powerful city of Angkor and its grand temple, Angkor Wat. The site has been another dream holiday location of mine. Just as much mystery and culture, and so much closer to home!

So I now answer the question, "If you could travel anywhere, which MAS Stimulus Package will you use and why?"

My answer? To Siem Reap - Angkor International Airport with the Weekend Getaway MAS Stimulus Package to visit one of my dream holiday locations, at a fraction of the price compared to a trip to South America! :)

Simplicity at its best!

Genius!

What a brilliant idea!

If you've never had to adjust the time for daylight savings you might not realize the significance of the clock in the picture above.

All you have to do to toggle daylight savings on or off is to tip the clock over!!

So smart!

Of course there's the event of accidentally tipping the clock over and arriving an hour early or late for an event.. lol.

Sometimes the best solution for a problem is the simplest.

Like the illegal parking problem they had down the road from my place! Will mention that some other time.

Task no.2

Hurrah!

Project 2 completed!! xD
Thanks to the ridiculous amount of dust that needed to be cleaned-up after drilling 4 holes in the wall, I'm behind in my much needed revision by about 2 hours.

Ah heck! I'm loving the new guitar holder in my room. :)

I might have put it a wee bit too high.

Oh well..

Now to get the sofa bed up in my room again!

Gotta ♥ Creative!

Finally!

Hurrah for mid-semester brakes!

A week where I don't have to worry about preparing for labs, finishing up reports or seeing my supervisor!

For the week I'm gonna things slow, get some personal projects done and to study at my own pace for the upcoming mid-terms.

I compiled for myself a list of things I want to do during the break, one of which concerns my beloved non-functional Creative Zen.

I got my good ol' 8GB Creative Zen while I was in Australia. It was a loyal friend, providing many hours of solid audio entertainment during my travels on foot, on the bus, aboard a train or in a plane. The Zen supplied relief for times when my friends and I would otherwise be bored out of our skulls. Amazing how much joy a splitter cable can bring!

It died a few months back while I was charging it using a generic mains-powered USB charger. Simon assured me that Creative products are fickle and will spring back to life in a few days like his player did.

It never did. sigh..

So today I set off to the Creative Service Center in Endah Parade to get it repaired.

Upon arriving at the place, I passed the dead player to the technician to be inspected. I was hoping it could be easily brought back to life with simple part replacement at a minimal fee, but unfortunately the situation wasn't so simple.

Apparently the hard disk was fried. Repair cost would amount up to 300 ringgit, IF they had the parts. They didn't have stock for the replacement hard disk my model needed, so repairs couldn't be done.

The technician then asked if I wanted a brand new Creative Zen X-Fi player for RM300.

The revised model of my dead player with 8GB of space which retails for about RM580 was offered to me at RM300.

He explains that it's company policy that if repairs cannot be arranged, they will offer a brand new unit for the estimated price of repairs. Initially only a 6 month warranty was given, like they would normally give after a repair job. I asked if it could be a 1 year warranty and he went out of his way to make it happen.

It was a really tempting offer but I wasn't sure initially. After visiting an internet cafe within the mall to check for reviews on the player and making some calls to get the blessings of a certain individuals, I decided to bite the bait. :p

So here it is!

Lady GaGa is my guilty pleasure. :p

Must ikat perut a little for the rest of the month, but overall I'm overjoyed to have a music player again!

Creative so rocks. What awesome customer service! xD

Can't wait to complete the other tasks in my list!

Lol!

I would print lecture notes on them! Reminds me of one of Doraemon's gadgets. Anyone knows which? :D
